Oracle over Order: Why I Choose Flow Over Formula (Most Days)
Since I can remember, I’ve been pulling oracle cards like they were cosmic conversation starters... gentle nudges from Spirit wrapped in art and affirmation. They’ve always felt like home: soft, fluid, and just structured enough to offer guidance without boxing me in.
While I do own a few traditional tarot decks (the classic 78-card setup complete with Major and Minor Arcana), they mostly collect dust like ancient scrolls waiting for the perfect planetary alignment. Every now and then, they call to me, especially when there’s a need for precision or a very specific question that wants a layered answer.
I remember one of my first professional readings circa 2015. I decided to give the tarot a go. The cards were rich in symbolism… but the woman I read for took them very literally. When “Death” came up, her face drained white as a ghost. “Should I be worried?” she asked. I explained it symbolized transformation. She replied, “Yeah, that’s what they all say.” We both had a good laugh—and let’s just say my connection to oracle stuck after that. HAH!
That said, I don’t always use cards in my sessions. There are stretches of linear time when I feel uncalled to touch them at all. And that’s the beauty of it—it’s not about dependency. It’s about resonance.
Oracle cards allow me to stay in intuitive flow, to co-create messages with the energy of the moment. They don’t require memorization, just presence. Whether pulled over coffee or for clarity during a crossroads, they’re like spiritual Post-Its from the Universe.
✨ Fun fact: The first known oracle deck dates back to the 19th century in France and was used not only for divination, but also as a parlor game. Talk about multidimensional entertainment!
There’s no right or wrong here... just preference. For me, oracle is the sweet spot of soul and spontaneity.
